FEARLESS FACES

One of my biggest fears is drawing, specifically drawing faces. I’ve experimented, but was never satisfied and my inner critic shouted very loudly over my shoulder the entire time. Then I hit upon the idea to stop trying so hard and to just throw paint with no inhibition or fear of being wrong. I started painting crazy wild faces in an old atlas that I turned into a journal and eventually moved to painting my faces on old wood boards that I purchased from rebuilding centers (and my boards just keep getting bigger and bigger!). I love that my faces represent me – bold, vibrant, a bit mysterious, slightly recycled, and definitely not worrying so much about lines.

CURIOUS ELEMENTS

Curious Elements are created using an elaborate 22-step process to bring together everything that I love: recycled wood boards, paint, plaster, ephemera, rusty bits, found objects, and vintage hardware.

FUNKY JUNKYARD BIRDS

Funky Junkyard Birds are little metal critters made almost entirely from found and recycled metal tins and objects. First, a body is cut from old tin cans and then a delightful array of metal bits and pieces are added to give the bird a unique personality.

ABSTRACTS

I love working in abstracts and adding texture. These loves have come together in some of my abstract pieces, especially those using limestone clay on wood or sand on canvas.
